21st Century Fables

At our agency launch event, we were lucky enough to witness – and take part in – a performance by a very special storyteller. Francesca Beard is a writer and performance poet who has toured across the UK and the world with her spoken word shows and creative writing workshops.

We commissioned her to write and perform a series of updated fables, fit for a modern audience. The resulting tales were funny, absorbing and thought-provoking.

The Tortoise and the Hare: Redux
Moral: Opposites attract, but low social skills are a universal turn-off.

3 gigs x 150 punters x 52 weeks a year = 23,400
Moral: It doesn’t matter what speed you go, what matters is that you don’t stop.
Alternative Moral: Those who adapt with the times will emerge unscathed.

The Vampire and the Werewolf
Moral: Beware of creating monsters in your own image.

The three fables that Francesca performed are only a small selection of those she wrote for us. We’ll be releasing them one by one over the next few weeks, so check back regularly for more 21st century fables.
